Junior Handling Critique

Thank you to ASCUK for asking me to judge the Junior Handling. I feel that with the breed becoming as popular as it is, it is important to encourage our young handlers, as they will play a big part in the future of the breed. All three handlers here today did an excellent job with their dogs and both dogs and handlers were all presented in first class condition. Well done to you all.

Age 6-11 years (1, 2)

1). Alicia Taylor

I felt that this little girl did extremely well with a young dog that on the day was being most unco-operative. She kept her cool at all times and stood the dog square when asked. Teeth were correctly shown and the dog was moved at the correct pace.

Just needs to watch what the judge does when going over the dog and be aware of the judges position at all times. Well done !!

Age 12-16 years (2,1)

1). Jade Cooper

Very accomplished young handler who gave 110% at all times. She was aware of my position at all times moving around the dog when necessary. Teeth shown correctly and she managed to get the best out of her young dog. Moved at the correct pace and knew to correct her dogs’ leg that I moved on going over him! Just felt that this young lady had to work harder on the day than 2, with her younger dog.

Best Junior Handler, well done!!

2). Joe McDonald

An experienced junior handler who I have watched mature over the years. Just felt that on the day, 1 had to work harder with her dog.  Same comments apply as 1. Joe was aware of my position at all times. Good Luck as you move up into the 17-24 year handling age group.

Two excellent handlers who I would have no problem asking to handle my own dogs.
