GROOMING SEMINAR JUNE 2008

The grooming seminar took place on Saturday 7th June 2008 at Polesworth Memorial Hall and was once again well attended with a glorious day to boot (typical it being indoors)…… So, once the long travellers had arrived, exercised dogs and had a coffee it was time to get on with the proceedings of the day.

Amber was the number 1 model, much to her disgust, but she seemed to be the best option for a hairy example. That was until our number 2 model came along, great thanks (I think not!) to Lynne Cousins for suggesting Andie Fielden-Page’s dog Toby (only joking Lynne!) A lovely red merle dog that had an unruly mass of hair… So off we started. We managed to find that this dog had actual ears, feet that weren’t the size of a yeti’s and the cutest little rear, rather than a waddling mass of hair! I think everyone was astonished at the end result especially Andie who hadn’t seen Toby looking so handsome before in his whole 8 years. So thank you Andie for the challenge and I am pleased that you liked the end result.

It was then time for the problem children/question time… and once again one of my regulars Leigh Ward didn’t disappoint!!!! Unfortunately Leigh is one of those people that doesn’t like a hair out of place, and as a result she has a tendency to trim her poor boy to within an inch or make that a centimetre of his skin!!!! Usually the end result of Leigh attending a Grooming Seminar is another piece of grooming equipment being made ‘out of bounds’ until the next Seminar where we can show how things should look. I must admit I think given half the chance the poor dog would be bald (perhaps it’s to streamline him for agility???)  We even had time for the younger pups who had attended to have a turn on the table just so that they didn’t feel left out.

Everyone was done by 3pm so it was just left to clear away all the hair, pack up the cars and hit the road for the long journeys home.

I would sincerely like to thank all those who attended especially those who travelled some significant distances and also those who didn’t have so far to travel - Cheryl, Jacquie, Kim, Debbie, Ros, Andie, Leigh, Christine. To Christine G, I will do you a private Q&A session with you at some point J
