Blue Merle

A Blue Merle Australian Shepherd's colour is made up of black spots of various sizes on a grey background. The shades of grey can range from light silver to dark smoky grey, and the black spots can be small specks to very large patches.

This can create a wide range of colour combinations, ALL of which are correct.

Blue merle Australian Shepherds may also have white markings on the face, chest, legs, and under parts.

Copper markings are also commonly seen on the face and legs.

Colour combinations will be:-

  • Blue Merle with copper and white
  • Blue Merle with white or copper - "Blue Bi"
  • Blue Merle (no white or copper)
